Find Matt's Cats Part 3
We just wrapped up all the levels of Find Matt's Cats in Normal mode. It looked like there would only be 12 maps time 7 levels per map, which is still a crazy amount of design work and fun. It turns out there are two additional maps, where things start to get more experimental and weird.
In Level 13-1 there is an extra bonus if you can find all 15 of these "blob people". Other levels have similar extra achievements, like turning on all the gaming gadgets.
Level 13-2 is a gorgeous map inspired by M.C.Escher. Parts are upside down and it messes with your eyes ... like these hidden object games aren't already messing with your eyes enough.
After that, Map 13 ends with another gorgeous design: a heavenly wheel where the outside ring of things slowly turns beneath the central essence of cat. The final final level 14 does this theme again but with evil motifs. Not sure why.
At one point, one of the devs said that they were planning on calling this "Matt's Hidden Cats" except some other company trademarked "Hidden Cats." It's hard to believe anyone can think they own such generic phrases, but okay. I mean, holy f**k, that was a real thing ... ask Steam.
And here is Matt himself explaining the ridiculous scramble he went through with his friendly game.
OMG, people. Life is hard enough without having to pay for legal searches every time you want to have some fun.
The developer characters give some nice final words, and then you can go back and replay all the levels in both Simple and Hard mode, so even after the 20 hours of enjoyable visual quests, there is still more to do. It must have been maddening to realize that customers expect so much out of games these days. For me, getting 8-10 hours of fun for $10 would be fine. The best deal in my personal history of gaming was Minecraft, which cost about $18 way back in 2011 and I have gigs and gigs of worlds with stacks of mods, literal years of exploring places and never running out of content.
But for hidden cats, Matt's where it's at.
