WarZone Idle
Playing with WarZone a bit this week, I discovered that there is an "Idle" campaign at the bottom of the main page. Either that's new, or I just didn't see a year ago when I first wrote about this great app.
The Idle campaign is set up in a very interesting way. The maps appear to be the same sequence as in the main game: you start with the standard Risk world map. But now, you have a certain amount of money and armies shown at the top right as W and A values. You gain some amount of each per second, and each space has an army value shown on it. So maybe Brazil starts at 96. Click it when you have 96 armies and it's your without a fight.
That first map played through quickly.
The second map is that little town with the roads and towers. A message tells you at the start that the idle game is not meant for a continuous sitting. Sure enough, after a few cheap spaces, the prices were up to about A18,000. So it would take 3 or 4 minutes to reach that amount, and if they planned it just right, I could come back tonight with a ton of points gained during idle time and grab a lot more spaces.
So far, I have seen no obstacles in the idle game other than always needing more points to spend. It is a very clever adaptation. A little wheel of fortune spinner came up when I first started the app, and some of those were bonuses for the idle game. There was a tab for Powers or Abilities, like 20x speeding up a resource for ten minutes. All the usual things you expect in an idle game. There is also a whole tech tree that unlocks as you reach certain milestones, speeding up resources or doing who-knows-what. Somehow they came up with about 40 research boxes to uncover.
From time to time, there was a pattern of circles radiating from a space like sonar rings. It turns out these were mercenary armies appearing, and you can click to hire them.
