Thrifting in Riverside

For my birthday weekend we got a hotel room in Riverside, CA and spent a few days exploring the area.  It turns out we were right downtown near the Convention Center, and there was so much within walking distance of the hotel it was crazy.  But we did drive a bit on Saturday to check out some thrift shops across town, including the Foster Army Pet Adoption shop and the Assistance League Thrift Shop a block away.  Both were well stocked with games.  The Foster Army shop had some pets in the back room ready for adoption, and a huge craft supply section with at least 100 rubber stamps, batches of stickers, crafting papers, and such.

For games, the find of the day was National Geographic Global Pursuit like new for $1.  That was a big game I used to have but I gave away some years ago.  Followed by some 50 cent games: Big Fish Little Fish, Game Over, Find It, a deck of dinosaur matching cards and some old cards from the San Diego Zoo. And from another shop, a cute thing called Mathological Liar.

The Rescue place must have known I was coming, since they had this little basket of vintage games all wrapped up already.

At $12.99, I probably would have skipped it, but they were having a 50% off day, so it came out to under $1 per game for: Water Works 1976 edition, a nice set of dominoes in a wooden case, Perquacky word finding game, Uno, a deck of Bud Light cards from the 80s, a travel backgammon set, Celebrity Piggy (a version of Greedy Dice) and some extra dice that Anne teased me about not needing.
