Kitty Cat Resort - got the 3T

Hey, I finally got the Lookout for 3T, and it's cute to see the cats use the binoculars to look around.  

Here are two shots of my island combined:

This gives a general idea of the activities that can be built, and how many cats are running around goofing off and dropping hairballs.  The yoga mats are one of my favorites, and there is a restaurant and lookout point further off to the left.  The decorations are available, and the animations of that cat crafting the blueprints and items is one of the highlights of the whole game, but the process takes too many resources and time for my taste.

The only other build icon I see is another Whale Movers for 15T.  My Skip Ad tickets have run out, so progress is going to be even slower.  They added a mini game where a cat tries to catch goodies while swatting balls away -- I'm not impressed, and watching the cat get knocked out at the end is not my idea of fun.  

On the upside, they added a way to send your cat to visit other islands and come back with comments and bonuses, along with visiting other islands and doing chores for bonuses.  Here is one of my guys coming back from a trip cute animations and Bs upon Bs of cash.

Visiting other players' islands did teach me one thing: there is no limit to how much time a player might put into decorations and endless tap-tap-tapping to make things happen.

This game is definitely on my cooldown list, not something I'm going to look at more than a few times a week.  But it's still cute.  While visiting one island, I saw this nicely rendered airship with a cat enjoying the view off to starboard, but I can only imagine how many months it will take to actually reach that point on my own island, if I get there at all...

Idle Planet Miner: Selling Your Galaxy

Back in Idle Planet Miner, production was starting to bog down, with crafts taking an hour apiece, and sometimes needing hundreds of items to unlock new research.  So, I figured it would be a good time to test out their "Sell Your Planet" feature, which has so many people online asking questions. These idle games can't level up through an infinite many items, so they all have this same kind of game reset mechanism.  In Idle Planet Miner, the Sell Galaxy button shows you the value of your galaxy and how many credits you will get for it.  These credits are a kind of meta currency, letting you buy new rooms for your ships, with each new room offering a different game boost.  Clicking the Sell button will show you exactly what you will lose: all planets, cash, ores, alloys, items, research.  Which sounds terrible.  But you get to keep your dark matter, your managers, your beacon buffs (though you will have to research the Beacon again to get it back on screen),...

Cat-astrophe

We were looking forward to getting Catastrophe -- we were watching old videos of Lil' Bub, even the documentary Lil' Bub & Friends, and then got a ping from Lil' Bub's human about this new game with a tribute to Lil' Bub.  Had to have one.   The box opening was fine.  There's a gorgeous full-sized full-color booklet about famous video cats, including a whole page about Bub.  The cards had those famous cats, and other characters.  A lovely production.  They clearly loved these cats. But then, the gameplay was essentially about sending cats to their doom.  Spending their nine lives, and trying to avoid the Grim Reapurr, to be exact.  That would have been okay, pushing other cats down the tower so you can be the last cat standing.  But the action cards were almost entirely: gain/lose/steal a life unless you roll 3-6 or 4-6 or 5-6.  Sure, you can spend your yarn balls to reroll dice, which was cute, but it's hard to get more. ...

"How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" Path Game

This looked cute, but when we popped it open the rulebook was missing.  This was a rare case where BoardGameGeek was no help.  They had only two images and no rules or messages at all.  It only took a few minutes to find someone doing a playthrough on YouTube.  They seem like a nice couple, thanks for helping out. It turns out that all you do here is spin and move.  If you land on a green space with a skull, you get a dragon token.  Land on a red ship and go back.  If the spinner lands on the white dragon you get the white dragon piece which prevents all negative effects until another player takes it away by spinning it again. That's all.  Whoever gets to the end with the most tokens wins.  There are two alternate paths where you can get more tokens.  But there are no decisions here, no actual gameplay.  The production was nice, though oddly the backside of the game board was more attractive than the front. Probably fun for kids....
