Kitty Cat Resort - The New Island

Back on Kitty Cat Resort, I misread the cost of upgrading the Whale Movers.  It was not 400 M, but 400 K.  To get to the new island you have to level the facility up to level 130, which starts at 400 K per level and ends up about 2 M per level, so I estimate the total cost is about 200 M.

As you tier up the Whale Movers, pieces get added to the model.  First, it's cute enough that it's a raft on the back of a whale.  As you build it up, first it adds a canopy, then some crates, then some more crates, then it's ready to go sailing off to the new island.

Whale Movers, ready to go.

Here comes the new island.

All your cats and buildings move with you, and you can now add 7 new facilities and up to 20 cats.  The first new facility is a Yoga Shack for 2 B.

Okay, I logged back in the next morning and picked up hairballs until I had the 2 B to spend.  Sure enough, the cats walk over and do yoga positions on the yoga mats.  I swear, the longer you play this game, the more animations and interactions the cats learn to do.  It unfolds in subtle and smile-inducing ways.  Good vibes all around.

After the Yoga Shack, you only need 500 M for the Cat Workshop, though the quest book will make you do some other costly things in between.  I figured the Workshop would be interesting, since some notes on earlier screens said you can't use decoration materials until you have a workshop.  What I was not expecting was how elaborate and interesting the new building was.

First of all, gorgeous design and cat animation here.  Yes, I know the overall style is somewhat simple, but within that framework, the details are well worth exploring. Now you have several whole lists of decorations you can make, and four new materials to get it all done: cloth fragments, wood fragments, seeds, shooting stars.  First you have to spend to get blueprints, after which you can spend materials to get the actual items, which you can place in the world using a well-designed placement widget.

So how do you get all these materials, other than buying them in the store?  On the right side of the main page you now have two new icons: Search Materials and Decorate.  Click Search Material, choose a material, choose two cats to go out hunting for the materials and ... they do hilarious poses and run off to look.  Normally, this would take 8 hours, but use an Skip Ad ticket and click See Results.  Your cats will come running back on screen either with some materials or a funny excuse why they couldn't find any.  Again, this little screen is way more interesting and lively than I would have expected.  A little treat each time.

Tonight I will see what else I can discover, and I will share it here as I unlock all the pieces.

10/27 - The Restaurant was 4 B, and the cats ran over there, grabbed fork and knife and started chowing down.  Each new activity adds more fun animations.  The next thing is the Balloon Ride for 20 B.  This time the cats go into a box of balloons, get lifted up by balloons while looking comically casual about the whole situation, then come back down and get on with their lives.

11/15 - after that the Waterfall Excursion is 200 B, but it's the first attraction to be a bit of a letdown.  The cats face away from you and hold a leaf-shaped parasol as they watch the waterfall.  The problem is, you can't see the cats AND the waterfall together, though with your back to the waterfall it looks like the cats are enjoying themselves.  Next up is the Cavern Expeditions for 500 B.

11/24 - Cavern Expeditions has the cats going into a cave (well, a wall) and rushing out about 12 seconds later, chased by bats.  They look both ways then hug themselves and shiver.  Kinda funny, but I was hoping for a few different animations for 500 B of fake cash.  Next up is Some Other Thing for 3 T.  Yup, 3 TRILLION whatchamacallits.  The game is still an amusing diversion, but it is beginning to drag.

1/3/2022 - Hey, it's a new year and I STILL don't have the 3 trillion to open the new facility.  This is ridiculous. I think the expectation is that you're going to level up every other facility to the max -- costing billions -- to get the daily coins up to the point where this doesn't take 3 months.  Just now, I hit 2.2 T and zoomed over to the new facility thinking it needed 2 T and I finally got it ... but no, 3 freaking trillion to entertain an island of goofy cats.  Maybe in another 2 weeks.
